Dunn Electric Named SBA 2020 Kentucky Minority Owned Small Business of the Year
We work diligently to deliver excellence in every project and this award is a great honor of our team’s hard work. Read the original SBA announcement below.
(Small Business Administration: Kentucky District Office) Dunn Electric, LLC specializes in commercial, industrial and residential electrical installation and service, including data, fire alarm, sound, video and voice products. Founded in 2004 by Steven Dunn, the company has over 35 years of combined experience, is certified as a Minority-Owned Business and has been a client of the Louisville SBDC since 2006.
Dunn Electric was also awarded contracts for other federal agencies, including the Ohio River Bridges Project, as well as KFC Yum Center, University of Louisville football stadium and projects on the University of Kentucky and Kentucky State University campuses.
Recently, the company secured an SBA line of credit through Republic Bank and Trust to fuel growth. That has been helpful, particularly during the turbulent business environment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Always improving his skills and knowledge, Steven received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Technology from Tennessee State University, is nationally certified in fire alarm systems and is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, the first international fraternal organization founded on the campus of a historically black college.
Steven has been married to his spouse, Shea, since 2007, and he believes strongly in giving back. Some of his favourite charities include Kosair Charities, Kentuckiana Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Kentucky Police Officers Association.
